About Us
What is the Dharma in Action? Dharma In Action (DIA) was formed in February 2008 as an informal gathering of energetic and enthusiastic Buddhists working together to promote fellowship and Buddhism as a lifestyle in Singapore. By February 2009, it was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee with the vision to support and promote Buddhist lifestyle for the betterment of mankind and society. DIA focuses on organizing non-profit activities and educational programs. Ultimately, DIA's mission is to enhance the Buddhist community fellowship by fostering cross collaborations through innovative programs.
What are Dharma In Action's Programs? The three arms of DIA are Annual Signature Event, OM Music Workshop and Buddhist Youth Leaders' Network. The 2008 Annual Signature Event was a Buddhist Youth Conference attracting 150 participants and 19 speakers. T.H.I.S. Buddhist Film Festival 2009 brought Buddhist teachings, histories and cultures to more than 5,000 audiences in September. DIA's second arm, the OM music Workshop, was born from the 2008 Buddhist Youth Conference by youths keen to promote positive values through music and performances. Their first concert in February 2009 featured 20 young musicians and attracted 80 audiences. A second concert was held in April 2009. The DIA Buddhist Youth Leaders' Network is its third arm which provides a platform for Buddhist youth leaders to support each other. A Buddhist Youth Leadership camp, Camp L.I.O.N.S was attended by 75 youth leaders from 9 Buddhist youth groups in June 2009. Camp L.I.O.N.S. II, held in June 2010, was attended by 100 youth leaders from 10 Buddhist youth groups.
